SHPNH is currently seeking caring and compassionate LPNs: night shifts (6pm to 6am) available with rotating weekends to care for our residents.
Job Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
Current Louisiana License from the State Board of Nursing
Job Duties:
- Makes rounds on residents
- To attend in-services education for self-development and improved resident care
- To administer and recorded medication, treatments and procedures according to nursing home policy.
- To participate in family and patient teaching and initiate plan of action for meeting their needs.
- To assist physicians when needed
- Observing patients for signs and symptoms of changing conditions in mental and physical status and report of doctor.
- Channeling pertinent information to appropriate persons.
- Records findings, care administered, and therapy rendered in clinical record
- Accounts for narcotics
- Prepares reports concerning incidents including patients, visitors, and personnel
- Performs technical procedures: CPR, inserting catheters, etc.
- Knowing resources of equipment and supplies within the hospital and proper care of their operational uses.
- Assist with orientation of nursing personnel
- Maintains a safe and clean environment
- Observes safety standards and regulations
- Maintains affective communication between nursing personnel, medical staff and other departments and related health services.
- Report all allegations of abuse as soon as possible to the DON or her designee
- Notify family members on change of residents’ condition, appointments, etc.
- The primary purpose of your job position is to provide care with an emphasis on the treatment and therapy of residents under the supervision of the attending physician.
- Order supplies as needed for proper care of the needs of the residents.
- Assist in the modifying of the treatment regimen and care plan to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident.
- Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services of assigned residents, as directed by the Director of Nurses.
- Performs assigned nursing procedures for the comfort and well-being of patients such as: assisting in admission of new patients, bathing and feeding patients, making beds, helping patients into and out of bed.
- Collect specimens, such as sputum and urine in containers, labels containers, and sends to laboratory for analysis.
- Dresses wounds, administers prescribed procedures, such as enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages. Applies compresses and ice bags.
- Observes patients for reaction to drugs, treatments, cyanosis, weak pulse, excessive respiratory rate and other unusual condition, and reports adverse reaction to the Doctor and Director of Nurses.
- Administers specified medication and note time and amount on resident’s chart.
- Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer.
- Answers residents call signal and assist co-workers or physician in advanced medical treatment.
- Assists in the care of deceased persons.
