Position Summary
The Homemaker / In-Home Support Aide provides non-medical supportive services to clients in their homes, including housekeeping, meal preparation, and respite/companionship care. The goal of this position is to help clients maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment while promoting independence and quality of life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housekeeping and Environmental Support
Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary home environment for clients by performing routine household tasks, including but not limited to:
- Clean and sanitize kitchens, including appliances, countertops, cupboards, and sinks.
- Safely dispose of expired or spoiled food and maintain refrigerator cleanliness.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain floors and baseboards throughout the home.
- Wash dishes and maintain general kitchen order.
- Vacuum carpets, upholstery, and curtains as needed.
- Dust furniture, fixtures, window casings, and accessible surfaces.
- Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilets, tubs, showers, and sinks.
- Empty trash and waste receptacles and maintain cleanliness of containers.
- Change bed linens and maintain orderly sleeping areas.
Meal Preparation and Nutrition Support
Supports basic nutritional needs in alignment with client preferences and care plans:
- Prepare simple, nutritious meals in accordance with client needs.
- Assist with grocery shopping or errands as assigned.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards during meal preparation.
Laundry and Linen Care
Ensures proper handling and cleanliness of clothing and household linens:
- Perform laundry services in the client’s home or designated facility.
- Fold, organize, and properly store clean clothing and linens.
- Provide light ironing, as appropriate and within time guidelines.
Companion and Respite Care
Promotes client well-being through social interaction and supervision:
- Provide companionship and emotional support through conversation and engagement.
- Offer supervision and ensure client safety during caregiver absence.
- Observe and report any changes in client condition or behavior.
General Support and Household Assistance
Performs additional light duties to support client comfort and home maintenance:
- Water plants and perform light household upkeep tasks.
- Replace vacuum bags and maintain basic equipment functionality.
- Perform limited outdoor tasks (e.g., sweeping walkways) as appropriate and approved.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintains accurate and timely records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards:
- Complete daily visit logs, mileage records, and service documentation
- Obtain required client or representative signatures for each visit.
- Report client concerns, complaints, or changes in condition promptly to the supervisor.
- Document services provided in accordance with agency procedures.
Compliance and Professional Standards
Adheres to all organizational policies, safety protocols, and professional expectations:
- Follow infection control guidelines, including Universal Precautions
- Maintain confidentiality of all client information in compliance with HIPAA.
- Adhere to attendance, dress code, and scheduling requirements.
- Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and continuing education.
Work Limitations / Scope of Practice
Performs duties within the defined scope of the role and safety guidelines. The employee will not:
- Perform heavy lifting or move large furniture or appliances.
- Engage in hazardous tasks such as climbing ladders.
- Perform home repairs, painting, or extensive outdoor labor.
- Clean non-service areas such as basements (except designated laundry areas)
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent - Required.
· Valid Wyoming driver’s license - Required.
· Reliable transportation with current insurance - Required.
· Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), or actively working toward certification through the Wyoming State Board of Nursing - Preferred
· Experience in home health or community-based care - Preferred

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Working knowledge of computer systems, including logging in, navigating operating systems, and managing files and folders.
