The Iowa Taproom is looking for a hard-working and friendly person to join our team as part-time Assistant Event Coordinator. This position will help schedule, facilitate and execute consistent coordination of events at the Iowa Taproom in our three event spaces. Events include weddings, corporate events, showers, morning meetings, luncheons, happy hour events, holiday parties and much more.
The Assistant Event Coordinator will support the Lead Event Manager with logistical tasks, administrative duties, and event organization. In this role, you will cultivate strong relationships with staff members, vendors, and clients. You will facilitate tours of our three rental spaces, and help answer questions about the rental process and terms. Daily duties include operations such as creating BEOs, coordination of event services, managing social media platforms, room set-up, answering inquiries, and assisting in the supervision of banquet staff during events. You will collaborate with the management team to create event strategies and marketing pertaining to the event program.
Weekends would be required in this role, and wedding weekends often range from 9 - 12 hour shifts. You can expect around 25-30 hours per week on average.

Education:
Hotel or Hospitality degree is a plus
2 + years experience with an event coordinator or event planner is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person
Responsibilities:
- Work in tandem with the Lead Event Manager to schedule, facilitate and execute consistent coordination of events
- Cultivate a strong events team and program
- Utilize booking system to organize, gather, and communicate all event needs with the rest of the management and event team
- Manage and reply to all inquiries
- Help facilitate setup and tear down of various events, along with support staff
- Come up with new ideas and suggestions to enhance the event’s success and the success of the event program overall
- Assist in publicizing the event program utilizing social media, advertisement, marketing and maintaining a digital presence
- Supervise all staff to ensure event implementation (set up staff, event staff, event leads, vendors, etc.)
- Finalize all event details
- Ensure event is completed smoothly and resolve any problems that might occur
- Analyze the event’s success and prepare reports and summaries
- Identify appropriate space, technology and set up needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Compensation:
$20 - $25 per hour
