Position Title: Dental Insurance Verifier
Location: NKC Dental
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a positive, detail-oriented, and organized Dental Insurance Verifier who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys supporting patients behind the scenes through accurate insurance verification and financial preparation. The ideal candidate brings a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a team-focused mindset. This role is responsible for verifying patients’ dental insurance benefits, obtaining accurate coverage information, and ensuring financial details are documented appropriately before treatment. This position is not patient-facing and primarily supports office operations through accurate insurance verification and administrative processes that help create a seamless patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patient appointments
- Confirm coverage details including deductibles, annual maximums, frequencies, waiting periods, limitations, and exclusions
- Review and document benefit information accurately in the practice management system
- Calculate and document estimated patient financial responsibility based on verified benefits
- After completing insurance verification, enter the patient’s estimated financial responsibility into the patient account for the treatment team to reference
- Submit and track pre-authorizations and predeterminations
- Identify and resolve insurance discrepancies or eligibility issues
- Maintain accurate records and ensure HIPAA compliance
- Work closely with the front office, treatment coordinators, and clinical team to support office workflow and scheduling needs
- Stay updated on insurance plans, policies, and industry changes
Qualifications
- Previous dental insurance verification experience preferred
- Knowledge of dental terminology, CDT codes, and dental insurance plans preferred
- Experience with dental practice management software (Dentrix, Epic, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, etc.) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to interpret insurance information accurately
- High school diploma or equivalent required
