Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Facilities Team Member / Shop Helper to support our shop supervisors, fabrication teams, and operations staff. This position performs shop, warehouse, cleaning, delivery, equipment-support, and facility-maintenance duties while helping maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
The ideal candidate follows directions well, works independently when needed, and can prioritize changing tasks throughout the day. Applicants must have experience safely operating a sit-down forklift and towing and maneuvering trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Pick up and deliver materials for fabrication and operations teams
- Safely connect, disconnect, tow, back up, and maneuver trailers
- Operate a sit-down forklift to load, unload, move, and organize materials
- Perform required pre-use inspections of forklifts, trailers, shop machinery, and other equipment
- Inspect down or malfunctioning equipment to identify visible damage, wear, leaks, loose components, or other potential causes
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs within the employee’s training and authorization
- Clearly document and report equipment problems, troubleshooting steps, and repair needs to supervisors
- Coordinate with supervisors or outside service providers when equipment requires advanced repair
- Follow proper lockout/tagout and equipment-safety procedures
- Perform daily shop and yard cleanup
- Keep shared areas, including kitchens and restrooms, clean and free of trash
- Organize warehouse, shop, and storage areas
- Clean and package finished products
- Perform weekly cleaning, lubrication, and greasing of shop machinery
- Complete scheduled monthly facility-maintenance tasks
- Assist supervisors and team members with general shop and operational needs
- Report maintenance concerns, unsafe conditions, and damaged equipment promptly
Requirements and Qualifications
- Previous sit-down forklift operating experience is required
- Previous experience safely towing and maneuvering trailers is required
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely connect and disconnect trailers and perform basic trailer-safety inspections
- Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment-troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with common shop tools, machinery, and safe work practices
- Ability to recognize equipment problems and communicate findings clearly
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English, including safety procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical work for extended periods
- Ability to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds or more
- Self-starter with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Current forklift certification
- Previous shop, warehouse, fabrication, or facility-maintenance experience
- Experience performing basic mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance
- Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures
