American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Behavioral Health position at a Magnet-designated pediatric psychiatric hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent specialty experience and active MO or compact RN licensure.

13-week contract at a 46-bed Magnet-designated pediatric psychiatric inpatient facility

Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
-
Patient ratio of 1:12; prior 1:12 ratio experience is required

Weekend requirement: every Sunday night, every Friday night, or every other Friday night shift
-
Each unit is staffed with 1 RN supported by Behavioral Health Techs; RNs oversee medication passes and overall unit management while Techs directly observe and document on patients

Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)

No floating required

No on-call requirements

Block scheduling is not available

Active MO or compact RN license required; both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or compact) must be in hand due to potential floating needs

Current BLS certification required

CPI or MANDT certification required prior to consideration (MANDT training available on-site if not currently certified)

Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience required
-
Must have at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year

Experience with a 1:12 patient ratio required

Missouri Children's Division background check (MoVechs) required
-
Two professional references required: one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN; both must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year

SSN required for consideration

Trauma Informed Care Training and Zero Suicide Training are required and will be provided on-site
-
Preferred skills include experience with psychiatric patient populations such as anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, PTSD, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, suicidal behavior, self-injurious behavior, and substance use
-
Preferred therapeutic skills include crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, behavior management, managing assaultive behavior, and psychoeducation

Preferred emergency care experience includes CPR/cardiac arrest, emergent chemical restraints, and physical hold protocols

MoVechs is a multi-step Missouri state background check process that takes a minimum of 3 weeks to clear and requires active candidate participation and responsiveness throughout

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted

RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
-
Previous travelers who have worked at any BJC or Saint Luke's facility as a permanent employee must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Returning travelers must have an 18-month break from the system with at least a 3-month break in service

Scrub color requirement: navy blue for RNs

Pre-start modules, including Epic training, must be completed prior to the start date
