Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle, NY (Westchester) is seeking engaging, enthusiastic, passionate educators for our Religious School for 2026-2027!
Beth El's Religious School serves approximately 85 learners in Kindergarten through 7th grade and is actively growing. We are a warm, welcoming, and inclusive community dedicated to fostering a lifelong love of Jewish learning and living. Our dynamic program integrates Jewish values, Hebrew, prayer, Israel, art, and culture in meaningful and engaging ways. Specialists in Israeli culture, art, prayer, and Hebrew enrich our curriculum, helping bring Jewish traditions and values to life.

School Schedule
Our Religious School meets:
- Thursdays: 4:00–6:00 pm
- Sundays: 9:00–11:00 am or 9:00 am–12:00 pm (depending on grade level)
Educators may teach on Thursdays, Sundays, or both days.

Available Positions
As our school continues to grow, we are hiring for multiple positions, including:
- 2nd, 3rd or 4th Grade Teacher (Thursdays and/or Sundays)
- Middle School Teacher (Thursdays)
- Hebrew Specialist (Thursdays and/or Sundays)
- Art Specialist (Thursdays)
Grade placement and scheduling will be discussed individually with candidates to find the best fit.
Qualifications
All positions require:
- Basic Hebrew decoding skills
- Familiarity with Conservative Jewish liturgy
- General knowledge of Torah stories, Jewish holidays, Jewish values, and Israel
We recognize that Jewish educators come from a variety of backgrounds, and specific areas of Jewish knowledge can be discussed individually during the interview process.
Curriculum & Planning
Educators are responsible for preparing lesson plans for each class session. Teachers receive ongoing support, guidance, and curricular resources from the Director of Youth & Family Engagement, while also enjoying significant flexibility to incorporate their own passions, interests, and teaching style into the classroom experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation ranges from $5,000–$12,000, depending on:
- Number of teaching days per week
- Experience
- Educational background
- Years of service at Beth El Religious School
In addition, educators earn one day of paid time off for each day they work per week. For example, a teacher who works only on Thursdays receives one PTO day annually.
Pay: $5,000.00 - $12,000.00 per year
