The Applewhite lab at Reed College is looking for a Research Assistant to work on an NIH funded project aimed at understanding the regulation of non-muscle myosin II. You will be working with both Drosophila tissue culture cells as well as various Drosophila fly lines so having knowledge and/or experience with culturing cells, fly genetics and husbandry, microscopy, biochemistry, and molecular biology is preferred (but not required). As a part of a research team, great communication skills and the ability to work with others is required. The candidate is also expected to contribute to the publication of papers which will require experience/knowledge of scientific writing and communication. This role reports to Professor Derek Applewhite.

The starting pay for this position is $20/hour-$23/hour. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an overtime eligible position in the Research pay grade.
