Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Trailer Body Mechanic to join our dynamic team! Duties
- Diagnose and repair trailer body damage, including structural issues, rust, dents, and cosmetic imperfections using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques
- Perform heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, and other machinery necessary for lifting and moving large trailer components
- Conduct electrical diagnostics on trailer lighting systems, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC units, and transmissions to ensure full functionality
- Use schematics and technical manuals to interpret mechanical drawings for precise repairs or modifications
- Assemble new trailer bodies or retrofit existing ones by welding, bolting, or riveting parts together with attention to safety standards
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed, parts used, and inspections completed for compliance and quality assurance
- Assist with routine vehicle maintenance including tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, wheel alignment, and diesel engine repairs to keep trailers operating efficiently
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on automotive repair or heavy equipment maintenance; dealership experience is highly valued
- Strong fabrication skills including welding (MIG/TIG), soldering, and working with various metals and plastics
- Familiarity with heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery; ability to operate these safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of schematics for electrical systems in trailers and industrial equipment; ability to troubleshoot complex issues accurately
- Hands-on experience with diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC units, shocks & struts
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and power tools necessary for assembly and repair tasks
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients or team members about repairs or maintenance needs
