Job Title
Inside Sales Consultant – High-Ticket Products (Pools, Hot Tubs, Saunas) – Full-Time
Job Post
We are not hiring a cashier. We're hiring someone to guide customers through a major purchase decision — pools, hot tubs, saunas, and game room products, often in the $5,000–$35,000+ range — the same way a furniture, RV, flooring, or appliance salesperson would.
If your experience is limited to ringing up purchases or running a register, this role will be a steep learning curve and probably isn't the right fit. If you've sold higher-consideration products and know what it means to build trust, ask good discovery questions, and follow up without being pushy — keep reading.
Nelson's HomeTowne Recreation is a family-owned business in Janesville, WI, helping families enjoy pools, hot tubs & spas, saunas, game room products, and backyard recreation. We recently moved into a much larger showroom and are looking for a full-time Inside Sales Consultant to help customers make confident buying decisions on our biggest-ticket products.
This is a full-time, year-round position — not seasonal, not a stop-gap. We invest real time training the right person on our product lines, and we're looking for someone who wants a long-term sales career, not a temporary job between other things.
What You'll Do
- Work with customers in our showroom, by phone, and by email on above-ground pools and in-ground pools, hot tubs, pool equipment, saunas, game room items, hockey products, and related accessories
- Ask good discovery questions before recommending products — not just point at what's on display
- Prepare quotes and estimates, and follow up with customers who are still deciding
- Learn our product lines and service offerings in depth (training provided)
- Help customers understand pricing, financing, timing, and next steps
- Keep customer information and sales notes accurate in our system
- Coordinate with our service, delivery, and installation teams
- Work Saturdays, Sundays and seasonal busy periods as needed
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience selling products typically priced $1,000 or more, where the sale involved more than a single transaction — e.g., furniture, RVs, boats, flooring, appliances, home improvement, powersports, memberships, or equipment
- Comfortable preparing a quote or estimate and following up on it days or weeks later
- Strong attendance and dependability
- Comfortable using a computer, email, and a CRM or point-of-sale system
- Able to stand and walk the showroom floor assisting customers throughout the day
- Willing to work Saturdays, some Sundays, and seasonal busy periods
- Professional communication with customers and coworkers
- Able to pass a background check if required
Not a fit for: cashier-only, fast food, or single-transaction retail experience with no consultative selling component.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling pools, hot tubs, outdoor living, home improvement, RVs, boats, powersports, or construction-related products
- Experience preparing formal quotes or estimates
- Experience with structured follow-up (phone, text, or email) on a multi-week sales cycle
- Comfort working with both homeowners and contractors
Compensation & Growth
$20–$24/hour base, depending on experience, plus sales bonus/commission. Total earning potential for a strong performer who learns the product line: $50K–$65K+.
You'll also get structured product and sales training, a growing showroom with expanding product categories, and a long-standing, family-owned local business behind you.
Before You Apply
Please apply only if you're looking for a full-time, long-term sales career — not short-term or seasonal work — and you're available to work Saturdays or Sundays during our busy season. We invest significant time in training, so attendance, reliability, and follow-through are essential to this role's success.
