QUALIFICATIONS: A North Carolina Administrator-Principal license is required. Must possess exemplary leadership skills, a commitment to continuous quality improvement, and a minimum of five years of successful, proven experience as a principal. Must have a clear track record of improving academic outcomes, strengthening instructional leadership, and executing continuous school improvement across diverse school settings. Must have the ability to facilitate professional learning, lead meetings, and deliver engaging presentations that build understanding, alignment, and commitment among stakeholders.
REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent for School Support
JOB GOAL: To assist the Associate Superintendent for School Support by providing strategic executive leadership, supervision, and targeted coaching for principals, assistant principals, and school leadership teams; evaluating principal performance; monitoring systemic school processes for maximum effectiveness; and driving continuous school improvement across the assigned area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership: Works closely with the Superintendent and Associate Superintendents to plan, direct, and coordinate district initiatives that ensure consistent, high-quality services and equitable support across all schools within the assigned area.-
Principal Supervision & Accountability: Provides direct leadership, supervision, and formal evaluation of principals; conducts rigorous, daily school visits to observe practice, identify structural strengths and weaknesses, and enforce strict accountability for student achievement and continuous school improvement.

Targeted Executive Coaching: Delivers real-time leadership coaching and brings about systemic change by directly addressing leaders’ weaknesses and strategically supporting and scaling leaders’ strengths.

Talent Pipeline & Capacity Building: Designs, facilitates, and supports high-quality professional learning programs for principals, assistant principals, and aspiring leaders, with a sharp focus on developing instructional leadership capacity, proactive succession planning, and the retention of high-performing school leaders.

Strategic Resource Allocation: Confers with principals on allotments, resource deployment, and operational budgets to ensure fiscal alignment with school improvement goals and district priorities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works cooperatively and collaboratively with cross-departmental teams—including elementary and secondary education, student support services, human resources, instructional technology, CTE, federal programs, and exceptional children—to mobilize and direct needed resources and support systems to schools.

School Improvement Implementation: Provides executive leadership in the development, systemic implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of evidence-based School Improvement Plans to advance student achievement outcomes.

Continuous Improvement Alignment: Ensure alignment between school improvement planning, the District Strategic Plan, and Cognia Accreditation Standards to promote a coherent system of continuous improvement, accountability, and organizational excellence.

Community & Conflict Resolution: Proactively receives, mediates, and seeks to resolve complex parent concerns, employee concerns regarding principals, and principal concerns by executing targeted conferences and establishing clear channels of communication.

Board & Community Engagement: Prepares and delivers comprehensive written and oral presentations to the Board of Education, principals, teachers, parents, and community groups; attends regular meetings of the Board and conducts necessary administrative and staff meetings.

Evidence-Based Practice: Maintains deep, up-to-date knowledge regarding research-based best practices, national trends, and strategies for leadership and instruction, and disseminates relevant professional materials to school leaders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of sitting, light lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

Must have auditory acuity at a level to hear telephone conversations, customer questions and concerns, and supervisor vocalized instructions.
