Senior Accountant

A stable and growing privately owned company is seeking a Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join its accounting team in a newly created role designed to support continued business growth and operational complexity.
This opportunity offers broad exposure across multiple business lines, including logistics, warehousing, transportation-related operations, real estate/lease holdings, and affiliated operational entities. What You’ll Be Doing
· Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
· Maintain and improve general ledger accuracy and accounting workflows
· Own balance sheet reconciliations and support multi-entity accounting operations
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
· Partner closely with operations and ownership to support financial visibility and decision-making
· Support lease accounting and ASC 842 compliance activities
· Help strengthen accounting controls, documentation, and accounting processes
· Support AP/AR oversight, fixed assets, and operational accounting activities
· Assist with accounting cleanup initiatives and process improvement projects
· Work cross-functionally with leadership in a highly collaborative environment
Required Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
· Strong general ledger accounting knowledge and close process experience
· Advanced QuickBooks experience required
· Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations, and large data analysis
· Experience with ASC 842 and lease accounting is required
· Strong understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
· Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced operational business environment
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Experience
· Experience within logistics, transportation, freight movement, distribution, warehousing, or related industries
· Prior experience working within a family-owned business environment and enjoying that style of culture
· Multi-entity accounting and intercompany experience
· Forensic accounting or accounting cleanup experience
· Experience improving accounting processes, controls, and reporting structures
