Duties
- Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of age-appropriate activities including arts, sports, educational games, and outdoor adventures that promote growth and teamwork.
- Supervise children during program hours, ensuring active engagement and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage a team of staff and volunteers by providing guidance, training in behavior management, classroom management techniques, and first aid procedures.
- Maintain a safe environment by implementing first aid protocols, responding to emergencies with CPR or AED operation when necessary, and ensuring all safety standards are met.
- Collaborate with parents, school staff, and community partners to support children's individual needs, including those requiring special education accommodations or behavioral support.
- Monitor program compliance with youth development standards and maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and activities.
- Lead youth group activities that foster leadership skills, social-emotional learning, and character development aligned with our organization’s values.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as childcare centers, camps, or youth programs is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to manage groups of children using effective behavior management strategies.
- Experience facilitating youth activities including tutoring, theater arts, or outdoor work enhances your suitability for this role.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (including AED operation) is required; ongoing training will be provided if needed.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and special education needs is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff or volunteers effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Background in teaching or youth group activity facilitation combined with outdoor work experience will be considered an asset.
