Position: Youth & Teen Caregiver/Mentor
We are looking for caring, compassionate and active mentors to provide supportive living to developmentally disabled, school-aged to young adult women, in foster care, in their daily routines and building life skills. Building emotional regulation is a key responsibility in this position, ensuring that every youth has the opportunity to enjoy positive and enriching experiences, such as, Bentleyville with people who care for them, splash at the water tables at the aquarium, learn how to skip rocks or agate hunt along the shores of Lake Superior.
We are a foster care organization with five (5) homes in Duluth’s Lakeside neighborhoods. We strive to provide safe homes for the individuals we serve for one year or until they age out of child foster care. Our homes are staffed 24/7, including holidays. Our staff work as a team to provide person-centered care to all individuals in the home, at a 2:1 ratio. Skills & Responsibilites:
Emotional Regulation & Crisis Support
- Co-regulate emotions during high-stress moments using trauma-informed de-escalation techniques.
- Teach coping mechanisms like deep breathing, sensory grounding, and verbalizing feelings.
- Implement behavior plans consistently to help clients navigate intense emotional triggers safely.
- Provide stable mentorship by remaining calm, patient, and predictable during behavioral crises.
Life Skills Development
- Guide daily routines and support the development of healthy habits and household management.
- Build independence by teaching budgeting, time management, and community navigation.
- Support academic goals by assisting with educational organization and school routines
Community & Social Engagement
- Facilitate active outings like trips to parks, shopping centers, movies, and community events.
- Model social skills to help clients build healthy peer relationships and professional interactions.
- Create joyful experiences that allow individuals to reach developmental milestones in a supportive environment
Health, Safety, & Documentation
- Administer medications strictly according to medical prescriptions and program protocols.
- Log daily progress notes detailing behavior tracking and skill progression.
- Maintain safety standards within the home and during all community-based activities.

Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED
· First Aid Training, ability to obtain upon employment.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Clear a Criminal Background Check
Job Types: Part-Time, Casual
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour

· Holiday Availability (3 minimum)
