Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This vital role involves managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in corporate and governmental accounting, proficiency with various financial software systems, and a passion for accuracy and efficiency. As a key contributor, you will help maintain the integrity of our financial data, perform reconciliations, and support audits to uphold our commitment to transparency and excellence.
Duties
- Prepare and review journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
- Conduct detailed data entry and analysis utilizing Excel for financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Support payroll management activities through systems like ADP, Ceridian, UltiPro, or Kronos, ensuring timely processing and compliance.
- Assist with internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance by documenting procedures and performing audits as needed.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Collaborate on month-end closing activities, including preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong understanding of accounting concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Familiarity with accounting systems like Workday, Paychex, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of technical accounting areas including GAAP compliance, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices is highly desirable.
- Strong numeracy skills combined with excellent attention to detail for accurate data entry and account reconciliation.
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively using Excel data analysis techniques.
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP or UltiPro plus familiarity with accounts payable/receivable management processes.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
