Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Recycle Sorter and play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability through efficient recyclable materials handling. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for sorting and processing recyclable materials at our waste management facility, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Duties
- Operate material handling equipment such as loaders, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Sort recyclable materials from waste streams, including plastics, metals, paper, and hazardous materials in accordance with recycling protocols and environmental regulations.
- Manage the loading and unloading of recyclable materials using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by performing routine cleaning tasks and ensuring proper disposal of non-recyclable waste.
- Conduct inspections of equipment and materials to ensure operational safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to prevent accidents and injuries during outdoor work activities.
- Assist in landfill management activities when necessary, supporting solid waste management efforts to optimize recycling processes.
Qualifications
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, or garbage trucks is highly preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge related to material handling equipment operation and maintenance is advantageous.
- Knowledge of recycling processes, hazardous materials regulations, and environmental compliance standards is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in outdoor settings under various weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and adherence to safety protocols at all times.
- Experience working outdoors in a physically demanding environment with a focus on sanitation and waste management is beneficial.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure proper sorting and handling of recyclable materials.
