Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Per Diem Evening Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator to join our dynamic healthcare team. The RN Circulator will be responsible for overseeing patient safety, assisting during surgical procedures, and ensuring compliance with all clinical standards. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care during surgical procedures as a Circulator, ensuring adherence to aseptic technique and sterile protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, assess patient status, and respond promptly to any changes in condition during procedures.
- Assist surgical teams with equipment setup, instrument handling, and procedural documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Ensure proper patient positioning, comfort, and safety throughout perioperative processes.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including procedure notes, medication administration records, and incident reports.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiology, surgery, and anesthesia technicians to optimize patient outcomes.
- Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and infection control policies to protect patient confidentiality and prevent healthcare-associated infections.
- Support preoperative assessments and postoperative care planning, including discharge instructions and follow-up arrangements.
Requirements
- Valid RN licensure with current state certification; prior experience in perioperative or surgical nursing preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile processing, and surgical instrumentation handling.
- Experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospital operating rooms, outpatient surgery centers, or ambulatory surgery settings.
- Competence in IV infusion, medication administration, suturing techniques, and basic life support (BLS).
- Critical care experience in ICU or emergency medicine environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), laboratory procedures, and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Ability to work independently in a per diem capacity during evening shifts while maintaining high standards of patient care.
