Hotel Sales Manager Job Description

Hotel Sales Manager ( Must be Local to the St. Michaels or Easton Area)

Position Summary
The Hotel Sales Manager is responsible for leading sales initiatives to increase hotel occupancy, revenue, and market share. This role focuses on developing corporate, group, leisure, and extended-stay business while building strong client relationships and supporting the overall operational success of the hotel. The Sales Manager works closely with the General Manager and hotel departments to maximize revenue opportunities and maintain exceptional guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve occupancy and revenue goals Prospect and secure new corporate, government, group, and leisure accounts Conduct outside sales calls, networking events, and client meetings Build and maintain long-term relationships with key accounts and repeat clients Negotiate rates, contracts, and group agreements Identify new revenue opportunities within the local and regional market
Revenue & Market Management
- Support ADR, occupancy, RevPAR, and overall revenue growth initiatives Monitor market trends, competitor pricing, and local demand generators Collaborate with the General Manager on revenue management strategies Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and monthly reporting Maintain accurate sales activity and account information in CRM systems
Client & Event Coordination
- Respond promptly to inquiries, proposals, and RFPs Conduct property tours for prospective clients and partners Coordinate group bookings and special event logistics with hotel departments Ensure seamless communication between sales and operations teams Resolve guest and client concerns professionally and efficiently
Operational Support
- Assist with front desk coverage and guest service operations as needed Support weekend operations and high-occupancy periods when necessary Participate in hotel leadership meetings and operational planning
Administrative Duties
- Prepare sales reports, contracts, presentations, and account summaries Track sales performance metrics and account production Participate in weekly revenue and operations meetings Support marketing campaigns and community outreach initiatives
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred Minimum 2–5 years of hotel sales, hospitality, or business development experience preferred Strong knowledge of hotel operations and revenue management principles Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Experience with PMS systems, CRM software, and Microsoft Office Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends
Preferred Skills
- Experience with group sales and event coordination Familiarity with OTA platforms and hotel distribution channels Strong networking and local business development abilities Analytical and problem-solving skills Professional phone and email etiquette
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Ability to travel locally for client meetings and networking events at the Talbot County Chamber
Compensation & Benefits
