EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position focuses on engineering work that supports the design, review, and inspection of transportation structures across the Commonwealth. You will help ensure that bridges, culverts, and related systems meet safety and performance standards. As a Civil Engineer (Transportation), you will perform the following duties:

Structural Design: Develop structural plans and compute material quantities for bridges and related structures

Technical Review: Evaluate consultant submissions and design documents to ensure compliance with standards

Hydrologic Analysis: Prepare and review reports and permit materials for waterway impacts and approvals

Bridge Inspection: Assist with inspections and determine bridge ratings using approved engineering methods

Project Coordination: Collaborate with consultants, agencies, and internal units throughout project development

Plan Preparation: Assemble and check final engineering plans, reports, and supporting documents

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $69,203.00 (before taxes).
