Accounting Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role manages the AP team, maintains strong vendor relationships, and ensures compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounts payable process, including invoice entry, payment processing, and reconciliations
- Supervise and support AP staff and ensure productivity, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reports
- Maintain and improve AP policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Coordinate weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments while optimizing cash flow
- Resolve vendor discrepancies and maintain positive supplier relationships
- Review and approve high-value or complex invoices and payments
- Prepare AP reports and assist with financial reporting
- Maintain audit-ready AP records and documentation
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, and other departments
- Lead system improvements, automation initiatives, or ERP upgrades related to AP
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–8+ years of accounts payable or accounting experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and AP processes
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems (Sage)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
