Job Title: CNC VTL Machinist
Location: Long Beach, CA
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:30 PM – 2:00 AM, extended hours; 5 days, occasional Saturdays)
Hourly Pay Range: $35.00 – $40.00 per hour + shift differential
This position is also eligible for shift differential pay based on assigned shift and production schedule needs.

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced CNC VTL (Mill or Lathe) Machinist to support precision machining operations in a high-production aerospace manufacturing environment in Long Beach, CA. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) machines to produce high-precision components to tight tolerances. The machinist will also support secondary machining operations including CNC milling and lathe work as needed to ensure production flow and efficiency.
This position offers long-term direct hire stability, overtime opportunities, and the ability to work in a highly skilled aerospace manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) machines for precision machining operations
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements to produce accurate parts
- Perform machine setups including tooling selection, offsets, and adjustments
- Monitor machining processes and make real-time adjustments to ensure quality and efficiency
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments
- Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous production flow
- Support CNC milling and secondary lathe operations when required
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with supervisors and quality teams to meet production goals and quality standards
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of CNC VTL machining experience in a production or aerospace environment
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
- Experience with machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime as required
Preferred:
- Aerospace machining experience
- Experience in high-volume production environments
- Familiarity with Fanuc or similar CNC controls
- Experience with both VTL and milling/lathe support operations
