Purpose of PositionThe Des Moines Christian School Head Dance Coach is responsible for fulfilling the mission of Des Moines ChristianSchool by equipping the minds and nurturing the hearts of student participants through their physical, emotional, mental,and spiritual development. This position oversees the implementation of program specific fundamentals and skills that areappropriate for the grade level being coached.Position: Part-time, Seasonal- According to season Stipend PayReports To & Evaluated by: Head of ActivitiesDirect Reports: Assistant & Volunteer CoachesQualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Dance or related coaching experience required. Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Attends coaching clinics that would be beneficial to the activity.
Maintains effective communication with participants, parents, and administration. Upholds to school policies regarding student eligibility and/or code of conduct violations. Ability to maintain standards specific to the Iowa Dance Coaches Association.Responsibilities: Demonstrates leadership in all phases of the dance program in collaboration with the Head of Activities. (HA) Works collaboratively with the performing arts programs (show choir, cheer, vocal and band) and athleticprograms with regard to sharing participants, practice schedules, and performance/competition dates andcoverage of events.
Develops long-range goals and plans to ensure future program success. Develops trusting, productive relationships with students in order to create a safe, positive, and productive teamenvironment. Assists in developing participants physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Communicates effectively with participants, parents, administration, and the community.
Ensures participants are supervised properly during and after practices, performances, and competitions. Assists HA in the hiring and supervision of assistant and volunteer coaches within the program. Collaborates with HA for program purchases and equipment needs.Coordinates with HA and facilities team in the proper care and management of facilities and equipment. Adheres to the policies and practices outlined in the DMC Coaches Handbook.
