Quality Control / Repair Specialist — Construction & FlooringJob Description
Floor One is hiring a Quality Control / Repair Specialist to join our team.
This is an in-the-field position for someone with strong construction knowledge, hands-on repair skills, and the ability to supervise installers on active jobs. This role includes a mix of quality control inspections, minor repairs, small installation work, handyman-type tasks, and jobsite supervision.
We are looking for someone who understands construction, can identify workmanship issues, knows how to correct small problems, and can make sure installers are following company standards. This person needs to be comfortable working inside customers’ homes, communicating with installers, and representing the company professionally in the field.
This is not a desk position. This person will travel to active jobs, completed jobs, customer homes, and service appointments to help make sure projects are completed properly.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality control inspections on active and completed flooring projects
- Supervise installers in the field to help ensure work is completed correctly and according to company standards
- Verify installers are following the project scope, jobsite instructions, installation details, and quality expectations
- Communicate jobsite issues, workmanship concerns, or needed corrections directly with installers
- Complete minor repairs, touch-ups, and punch-list items
- Assist with small installation-related tasks when needed
- Handle basic handyman work, including trim, drywall, caulking, patching, adjustments, and small repairs
- Inspect jobsite conditions before, during, and after installation
- Identify workmanship issues, material concerns, jobsite problems, or installation risks
- Take clear photos and notes of jobsite progress, issues, and completed work
- Help resolve customer concerns in the field
- Pick up, transport, and carry small tools, materials, and supplies as needed
- Communicate professionally with customers, installers, office staff, and management
- Verify that completed work meets company standards before leaving the jobsite
- Assist with small construction-related tasks as needed
- Keep tools, materials, and work areas clean and organized
- Represent the company professionally while working inside customers’ homes
Qualifications
- Construction, remodeling, flooring, or handyman experience required
- Strong general knowledge of residential construction
- Experience with flooring, trim, baseboards, drywall, framing, basic plumbing, or basic electrical preferred
- Ability to inspect work and identify quality issues
- Ability to perform minor repairs without constant supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with installers
- Ability to hold installers accountable to company standards
- Good eye for detail and workmanship
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working inside occupied homes
- Must be professional, respectful, and customer-service oriented
- Must be reliable and able to show up on time
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have their own reliable truck or van
- Must have basic tools for repair and punch-list work
Vehicle Requirement
This position requires the use of the employee’s own reliable truck or van for traveling between jobsites, carrying tools, and transporting small materials or supplies when needed.
Gas and approved vehicle maintenance expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.
Preferred Experience
- Flooring installation or flooring repair experience
- Baseboard, quarter round, transitions, stair nose, or trim experience
- Drywall patching and texture repair
- Light framing or remodeling experience
- Basic plumbing knowledge
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Experience performing final punch-list work
- Experience supervising installers, subcontractors, or construction crews
- Experience working directly with homeowners
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a well-rounded construction professional who can inspect work, fix small issues, and supervise installers in the field. This person should be hands-on, detail-oriented, dependable, clean, professional, and able to think through problems without needing constant direction.
We need someone who can walk into a jobsite, understand what is happening, identify what is wrong, and either fix it or make sure it gets corrected. This person should know the difference between work that is actually finished and work that someone just wants to call finished.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry tools and materials
- Ability to kneel, bend, stand, and work on floors for extended periods
- Ability to perform small repairs and hands-on construction tasks
- Ability to work in residential homes and active construction environments
- Ability to drive between jobsites throughout the workday
Schedule
Full-time position. Schedule may vary depending on jobsite needs, inspections, repairs, and service appointments.
Compensation
Pay $70,000 - $78,000 per year based on experience.
Gas and approved vehicle maintenance expenses will be reimbursed according to company policy.
