Position Summary
Staybridge Suites Grand Rapids South is seeking a friendly, energetic, and hospitality-focused Breakfast Attendant to help create a welcoming and enjoyable breakfast experience for our guests each morning.
As a Breakfast Attendant, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and maintaining our complimentary hot breakfast buffet while delivering exceptional guest service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, takes pride in cleanliness and organization, and understands that a great breakfast can set the tone for an entire guest stay.
Typical shifts on the weekend begin early morning and may start as early as 6:00 AM.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming breakfast experience.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Respond promptly to guest questions and requests.
- Maintain a positive attitude while representing the Staybridge Suites and IHG brands.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Food Preparation & Presentation
- Prepare and set up the complimentary hot breakfast buffet according to brand standards.
- Prepare breakfast items including eggs, meats, oatmeal, waffles, pastries, fruit, coffee, and beverages.
- Ensure all food is displayed attractively and replenished throughout service.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and temperatures.
Breakfast Area Maintenance
- Keep the breakfast area clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout service.
- Wipe tables, counters, beverage stations, and serving areas regularly.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas.
- Remove trash and maintain a neat, inviting appearance.
Inventory & Stocking
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.
- Restock food, beverages, paper products, and guest supplies.
- Rotate stock using proper food safety procedures.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all local health department regulations and food safety guidelines.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and storage procedures.
- Practice safe food handling techniques at all times.
- Complete cleaning and sanitation tasks according to hotel standards.
Kitchen & Breakfast Area Closing
- Properly break down and clean breakfast equipment.
- Wash dishes and utensils as needed.
- Prepare the breakfast area for the following day's service.
- Complete daily cleaning checklists and assigned tasks.
QualificationsRequired
- Ability to work early morning shifts and weekend availiability
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 30 pounds throughout the shift.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, food service, or customer service experience.
- Experience with buffet service or hotel breakfast operations.
- Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
