leading skating activities, overseeing playground time, providing Sparkles of Smyrna is seeking high-energy, engaging, and vigilant Camp Counselors for our seasonal break camps (Spring Break, Summer Camp, Fall Break, and Winter Break).
This role is ideal for a full-time educator, paraprofessional, coach, or youth leader looking for meaningful part-time or seasonal work during school breaks.
We’re looking for someone who is structured yet fun, authoritative yet respectful, and confident leading groups of children in an active, fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
Camp Counselors are responsible for supervising and actively engaging groups of campers throughout the day. This includes facilitating games, leading crafts, leading skating activities, overseeing playground time, providing snack/lunch service, and ensuring overall safety and structure.
You must be hands-on, proactive, and comfortable managing groups with both energy and authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise groups of children (ages 5–11)
- Facilitate structured games, team activities, and group challenges
- Guide arts & crafts and themed camp projects
- Monitor skating floor and playground participation
- Assist with snack and lunch preparation, basic cooking, and food distribution
- Maintain safe staff-to-camper ratios at all times
- Enforce camp rules in a respectful, firm, and consistent manner
- Keep campers engaged and on schedule throughout the day
- Lift, move, and set up equipment (tables, supplies, activity materials – 50+ lbs when needed)
- Maintain cleanliness of activity areas
- Communicate with parents and leadership professionally
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in a school, camp, daycare, or recreational setting
- High energy, alert, and attentive (must be vigilant at all times)
- Strong classroom or group management skills
- Confident in leading large and small group activities
- Comfortable with food prep, light cooking, and serving
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred but not required)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Organized and dependable
- Must be able to stand and remain active for extended periods

Schedule
Seasonal position aligned with Cobb County Schools:
- Spring Break (April)
- Summer Camp (June & July)
- Fall Break (September)
- Winter Break (November)
Part-time and full-time hours available during camp weeks.

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
