Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Registered Nurse Supervisor to oversee overnight nursing operations within our care facility. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff working during overnight shifts, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and medical documentation in accordance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
- Manage care plans for residents with diverse needs including dementia, behavioral health conditions, long-term disabilities, or post-acute recovery.
- Ensure proper use of electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and reporting.
- Conduct regular staff evaluations, provide mentorship, and facilitate ongoing training on topics like infection control, IV infusion, catheter care, and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards including long-term care regulations and accreditation requirements such as NCQA standards.
Skills
- Extensive experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; proficiency in medical documentation is essential.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques.
- Proven leadership skills with supervising experience in nursing management or team leadership roles.
- Critical care experience including ICU or acute care settings; familiarity with ventilator management, airway management, and Level I & II trauma center protocols preferred.
- Expertise in managing complex patient populations such as geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia, behavioral health patients, and those requiring specialized therapies like tube feeding or catheterization.
- Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs measurement, physical examinations, specimen collection/processing, phlebotomy, and sterile techniques.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations along with state healthcare laws governing long-term care facilities.
- Excellent communication skills for effective team management and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
- Competence in managing medical records accurately while adhering to documentation standards such as ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding for procedures like suturing or spinal taps.
- Familiarity with medical imaging procedures or laboratory experience is a plus; certification in basic life support (BLS) or advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) is required.
