Overview
Palm Village Retirement Community is seeking a dynamic and experienced Food Service Director to lead our culinary and dietary operations within a vibrant healthcare setting. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee all aspects of food service management, ensuring exceptional nutritional care, compliance with health regulations, and the delivery of high-quality dining experiences for our residents. As a Food Service Director, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive team environment, managing budgets, and implementing innovative food service strategies that promote health and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the dietary department, supervising food production, menu planning, and meal service to meet residents’ nutritional needs.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety management practices and health regulation policies, maintaining compliance with all relevant health codes.
- Oversee food service teams, providing leadership, training, and supervision to foster teamwork and high performance.
- Develop and manage budgets for the food service department, controlling costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create care plans that incorporate specialized nutrition requirements such as tube feeding, clinical nutrition, and diagnostic evaluation.
- Monitor patient assessment data and utilize electronic health records (EHR/EHR management) to tailor food services accordingly.
- Implement food safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and ensure staff are trained in food handling procedures aligned with health regulation policies.
- Coordinate with management on dietary department operations, including staffing schedules, inventory control, and procurement processes.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in healthcare food service management with a minimum of two (2) years of food service supervisory responsibilities.
- Certified Dietary Manager certification required or as required by state and federal guidelines
- Strong knowledge of health regulation policies related to food service compliance and safety standards.
- Expertise in managing food production processes, dietary planning, and nutrition principles including clinical nutrition.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing patient care plans and dietary documentation. Knowledge of PointClickCare is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing food service teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in budget management, cost control, and resource allocation within a dietary or food service department.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams, residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to adapt quickly to regulatory changes while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Working Conditions:
- Sits, stands, lifts and moves throughout workday.
- Works beyond normal working hours when needed including weekends and holidays and is a relief person for cook or dietary aid positions when needed.
- May be exposed to infectious waste and diseases.
- Is subject to warm/hot temperatures in kitchen work area, and cold temperatures in food storage/freezer areas.
Pay: $36.54 - $38.94 per hour
