Job Summary:
Join our team as a Metal Sorting Laborer and become an important part of our recycling and manufacturing operations! The Metal Sorting Laborer will grade, purchase, and sort all types of copper, aluminum, brass, steel, etc. This fast-paced role requires efficient multi-tasking to handle customers at a number of platform and truck scales. This position will be required to disassemble tires, prepare cars for the shredder, and operate equipment and machines as needed for production. A high level of customer service and a willingness to learn about various metals and their value are a must.
Essential Job Functions:
- Weigh incoming material brought in by customers.
- Sort incoming material into appropriate bins.
- Disassemble tires.
- Prepare cars for the shredder.
- Operate varies pieces of equipment, i.e. tow motor, bobcat skid steer.
- Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.
- Supplies production facility and/or stockpiles raw feed or finished products.
- Keeps yard clean, well-organized and safe.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED is preferred.
- Industry experience in scrap, metal preferred.
- Ability to work inside or outside as required.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits.
- Punctual and reliable; good attendance required.
- Good communication skills.
Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
- Frequent standing, sitting, walking, squatting, bending, reaching, and grasping.
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment and pick up material.
- Lifting/carrying material weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling material weighing a minimum of 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Outside work in the Yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain) may be encountered.
- Work will take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust, and fumes.
- The noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times.
Work Hours:
- Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm, Saturdays 7:00am - 11:00am. Schedule is subject to change to facilitate business and production needs.
