Under the administration of the Director of Childhood Education, a teacher assistant is responsible for the supervision and supportive management of the classroom. A teacher assistant helps to create and maintain a classroom culture of health and safety, both physical and emotional. Maintaining regular communication with supervisors and contributing to the overall effective operation of the early childhood program.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Floater and Afterschool Program Leader supports the Lead Toddler and Preschool Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 1.5 to 5 years. This individual will help facilitate engaging activities, supervise daily routines, and foster social, emotional, and academic growth aligned with Colorado early learning standards. A minimum of 6 months working with young children in a childcare setting is preferred. Must be able to lift 35 pounds. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) preferred. Must pass background check and fingerprinting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Lead Teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities.
- Lead an afterschool program for one hour (5 children) ages 3-6.
- Support children’s individual learning and social development through play, conversation, and modeling positive behavior.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Supervise indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Support toileting, diapering, and hygiene routines following licensing regulations.
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of meals, snacks, and rest time.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with children, staff, and families.
- Communicate concerns or observations to the Lead Teacher or Director promptly.
- Attend staff trainings, meetings, and required professional development.
- Comply with all state licensing regulations, school policies, and procedures.
- Active supervision of children.
- Completing other tasks as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience working with young children in a group setting preferred.
- PDIS lead-teacher certification preferred
- Must complete or be willing to complete PDIS (Professional Development Information System) training within 60 days of hire.
- Must pass background check and meet all licensing requirements for early childhood centers in Colorado.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, get down on the floor to engage with children, and maintain energy throughout the day.
- Flexibility, patience, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
