Job Summary:
The Home Health Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time for home health employees while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. This role oversees payroll operations, verifies employee timesheets, audits documentation for accuracy, and collaborates with clinical staff and management to resolve payroll discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for home health clinicians, caregivers, and administrative staff.
- Review and verify employee timesheets for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Audit visit documentation, electronic visit verification (EVV), and time records prior to payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, labor, wage and hour, and home health regulations.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, missing time entries, and pay-related concerns in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files while ensuring confidentiality.
- Coordinate with Human Resources, Clinical Managers, and Scheduling staff regarding payroll and compliance issues.
- Prepare payroll reports and assist with internal and external payroll audits.
- Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met.
- Support onboarding by verifying employee payroll documentation and tax forms.
- Stay current on payroll laws, home health regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in home health or healthcare.
- Knowledge of payroll systems, EVV, and timekeeping software.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, wage and hour laws, and home health regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and payroll software.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive employee information.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with home health payroll and scheduling systems.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid documentation requirements.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
This position requires exceptional accuracy, strong compliance knowledge, and the ability to manage payroll processes efficiently while supporting a fast-paced home health environment.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
