Job Summary
The Support Services Supervisor works closely with Management to support the daily operations of the Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition Services, Linen Services, and Patient Transportation departments to ensure optimal operation of support services, including the cleaning & disinfection of the environment of care, food and nutrition patient services, culinary and retail operations, patient transport, linen distribution, waste management and pest control. It is the responsibility of the Support Services Supervisor to assist with supervision and coordination of all activities of the departmental personnel, including quality assurance, productivity and regulatory compliance. Works closely with all departments and problem-solves issues associated with the department scope of services. Maintains a strong focus on the Patient Experience, performing rounds and communicates with patients and family members to ensure a positive experience. Will routinely assist supervisors with performance verifications, training and orientation of staff members. Work independently and collaboratively with hospital management team to provide extraordinary service.
Essential Functions
- C. JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the successful operations of the department including, where applicable, age specific competency. * 1. Demonstrates proficiency in the completion of all supervisory aspects of the Support Services departments including but not limited to work schedules, counseling, performance evaluations, and all other human resource related aspects of the department as appropriate. 2. Demonstrates proficiency in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment of the patients', visitors, employees of the hospital by completing regular rounds and inspections of all patient and non-patient areas of the hospital. 3. Receives dispatched service requests and completes and resolves all requests in a thorough and timely manner. 4. Assists in the coordination of departmental operations in support of all other departments regarding patient & client needs, project work, and physical moves of furniture and equipment. 5. Assists in maintaining scheduled tasks pertaining to Support Services departments scope of work. 6. Ensures linen operations are maintained and compliant with regulatory standards and guidelines. 7. Completes quality assurance activities in accordance with food service department policies and procedures. Ensures compliance of daily Quality Assurance activities (i.e. Refrigerator/freezer temperature record, dish machine temperature record, sanitation inspection, and daily supervisors report). 8. Maintains a sanitary and safe operation in accordance with federal, state, and local health regulations. Institutes and monitors the mandatory application of proper handwashing and utensil sanitizing procedures. Ensures that floors, equipment, and repairs are maintained according to safety standards as determined by local, state, and federal health codes. 9. Works in partnership with Safety Officer and Facilities Manager in the provision of a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees 10. Maintains competency in all appropriate position responsibilities and ensures competency of staff in all position responsibilities. 11. Supervises serving of meals. Monitors for proper serving size, portion control, proper serving temperature, and accuracy of menu selection per diet order. 12. Supervises tray line to ensure starting time and that patients are fed in a timely manner. 13. Completes opening and closing checklist per department requirements. Inspects kitchen and cafeteria, kitchen utensils and equipment to ensure sanitary standards are met. Follows established cleaning procedures. 14. Maintains patient transport operational schedules and assignments 15. Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to the specific needs of the patient/resident population and demonstrates knowledge of specific issues directly related to age of patient population. Adheres to established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all OSHA regulations and other local, state and federal regulations. 16. Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
- High School or
- GED or
- 1-3 years Healthcare experience as Environmental Services, Linen, Food and Nutrition and/or Transportation Supervisor or Equivalent relevant experience Required
- Training and education in Health Care Management preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of floor care procedures, terminal cleaning, infection prevention, waste management, food and nutrition operations, patient transport procedures and linen operations..
