Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) was formed in 1974 with the mission of providing public transit services to the 59 communities and 1.2 million residents of Cuyahoga County. As the largest public transit agency in the State of Ohio, GCRTAs service options include bus, BRT, trolley, paratransit and three rail lines. Detailed Description
Duties:
Performs general labor duties for one or more departments throughout the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Shelter & Vehicle Cleaners/Laborer Lead/Service Management Crew Chief performs general deep cleanings of bus shelters, the HeathLine, comfort stations, transit centers, buses & rail cars, district buildings and windows. Laborer work includes, but is not limited to, seasonal maintenance, such as snow removal, cutting branches, weeds, etc., assists in maintaining a variety of equipment, general maintenance work, utilizing hand tools, and operating heavy equipment. Provides excellent customer service to the public and performs other duties of a similar nature as required.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Applicants must be able to read, prepare basic arithmetic calculations and understand simple instructions.
- Applicants must have a valid Ohio Drivers License.
- Applicants must have a GOOD DRIVING RECORD with no more than FOUR (4) POINTS, in the past three years.
- Applicants must also have the ability to move up to 50lbs.
- Applicant must also have excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
Additional Information: The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and night of the week. The position is a bargaining unit position.
Additional Details
Examination Information: The examination process will consist of two parts: performance assessment and interview, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only).
Candidates must obtain a minimum of 70% on all parts of the process, except 60% on the interview portion, to move forward in the process.
Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for external candidates: Performance 50% and Interview 50%.
Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for internal candidates: Performance 42.5%, Interview 42.5%, Record Evaluation 15%.
Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria in order to gain the 15% weighting, INTERNAL CANDIDATES MUST ALSO SUBMIT A PROPERLY COMPLETED ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATION FOR INTERNAL SELECTION PROCESS. Records evaluation information includes a review of the following:
- 5 or more absence occurrences

2 or more AWOL or absence control suspensions

3 or more active written reminders (regardless of the level)

5 or more misses (regardless of whether they are active or not active)
