Job Description:
The Dietary Aide assists in the preparation, service, and delivery of meals to residents while ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment. This role supports the dietary team in meeting residents’ nutritional needs and providing excellent customer service.
- Assist with meal preparation, tray assembly, and food portioning
- Deliver meals and snacks to residents in a timely manner
- Ensure meals match resident diet orders and restrictions
- Set up and clean dining areas before and after meals
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Follow proper sanitation, safety, and infection control procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, work areas, and storage spaces
- Stock supplies and assist with inventory as needed
- Interact respectfully and courteously with residents and staff
- Report concerns or issues to the Dietary Manager
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous food service experience preferred but not required
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Food Handler’s Permit (as required by state)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Lift up to 25–40 pounds
- Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching
- Fast-paced kitchen and dining setting
- Exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals
- Regular interaction with residents
