We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in creating vibrant, engaging, and meaningful experiences for our residents. Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday
Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and facilitate a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, outings, music therapy, and themed events.
- Collaborate with team members to assess residents’ needs and preferences, ensuring activities support cognitive health, mobility, and emotional well-being.
- Assist residents with daily activities (Activities of Daily Living - ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, or mobility during group or individual sessions.
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of planned events while adapting to changing resident needs or unforeseen circumstances.
- Foster social interaction by encouraging participation and building a sense of community among residents through engaging programs.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback to improve future programming.
- Support residents’ emotional health by providing companionship and counseling on aging issues or memory care challenges such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or long-term care environments.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and senior care best practices.
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents with diverse needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to assist residents with ADLs while maintaining patience and compassion.
- Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout each day.
- Familiarity with aging issues counseling and social work principles related to senior populations is a plus.
- A proactive attitude with the energy to motivate others and create lively, inclusive activity programs.
