Position Summary
Cross Care Transport in Nyack, NY is seeking an experienced Freelance Mobility Vehicle Lift Technician to provide as-needed maintenance and repair services for our fleet of wheelchair-accessible transport vans.
This role is ideal for an independent technician with experience servicing BraunAbility wheelchair lifts or similar mobility equipment installed in commercial transportation vehicles. The technician will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform repairs, conduct preventative maintenance, and help keep our fleet operating safely and reliably.
Work is scheduled on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair BraunAbility wheelchair lifts and related mobility equipment
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on wheelchair lift systems
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues
- Inspect lift systems to ensure safe operation
- Replace worn or damaged components as needed
- Document completed repairs and recommendations
- Communicate repair needs and estimated completion times
Qualifications
- Experience repairing BraunAbility wheelchair lifts or similar mobility lift systems required
- Experience working on wheelchair-accessible vans or commercial fleet vehicles preferred
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to diagnose hydraulic and lift system failures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Own tools preferred
Preferred Experience
- BraunAbility lift certification or equivalent experience
- Experience servicing wheelchair-accessible transportation vehicles
- Fleet maintenance experience
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, and work underneath vehicles
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Safely use hand and power tools
Schedule
- As-needed basis
- Flexible scheduling based on fleet maintenance and repair needs
- Occasional urgent repair requests may arise
Compensation
- $30-$35 per hour, based on experience
- Independent Contractor / Freelance position
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
