Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Behavior Specialist - Education to join our dedicated team. In this vital role, you will implement evidence-based behavioral interventions, support educational and therapeutic goals, and collaborate closely with families, educators, and healthcare providers. Your expertise will help foster positive behavioral change and promote independence for individuals with diverse needs, including neurodevelopmental disorders and behavioral health challenges.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized behavior intervention plans based on applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles.
- Conduct assessments to identify behavioral needs and track progress through detailed data collection.
- Provide direct support to children and youth with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, or mental health conditions.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to create consistent behavior management strategies across settings.
- Administer medication as prescribed (following proper protocols), monitor vital signs, and maintain accurate medical documentation.
- Utilize crisis management techniques and de-escalation strategies to ensure safety during challenging situations.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing electronic health records (EHR) and medical records efficiently.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children and individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Knowledge of mental health issues such as PTSD care, addiction counseling, and substance use disorder support.
- Hands-on experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and behavior management strategies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, patient care procedures including first aid/CPR, vital signs monitoring, and medication administration.
- Experience working within special education settings or providing social work services is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR/EHR management), medical documentation, data collection, and maintaining client confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
