The Behavioral Center of Michigan, an accredited psychiatric hospital providing high levels of psychiatric care to adult patients and committed to person focused care is looking for a Revenue Cycle Director to be responsible for ensuring the medically related billing and reimbursement of the patients are met and maintained on an individual basis in accordance with policies and procedures, and current TJC, federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations.
The Director is responsible for maximizing the collection of medical services payments and reimbursements from patients, insurance carriers, financial aid, and guarantors. Also responsible for insurance eligibility processes, charge processing, claim submission and processing, payment processing, collections and accounts receivable management, denial management, reporting of results and analysis, concurrent and retrospective auditing, identifying credentialing issues, insurance contract review and oversight, customer service relative to revenue cycle, training and development relative to revenue cycle, analytics, and all other revenue cycle management activities.
Qualified candidates must have:
- Five plus years experience in billing and/or managing account receivables in a similar set up or related field.
- Training or background in ICD-9/CPT codes. At least 3 years previous experience with ICD-9/CPT codes.
- Ability to understand and practice bookkeeping and accounting terminology.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices.
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises admissions review process for incoming patients.
- Associates Degree in Business (preferred),
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple functions.
- Ability to understand and practice bookkeeping and accounting terminology.
- Report, analyze, and guide activities that influence the work of the department.
- Develop and monitor QI activities for admissions department.
- Serve as link between admissions, intake, billing, and other departments to ensure the efficient transfer of information essential for operations.
- Supervise and monitor personnel adherence to established admission/billing criteria and ensure appropriate documentation of approval/denial occurs.
- Adhere to established Patient Rights and ensure the departments comply.
- Acts as an intermediary on difficult cases and keeps leadership team informed of the status of problematic situations.
- Oversees and manages the recruitment, orientation, and ongoing training of admissions staff.
- Creates and updates policies, procedures, and training materials for admissions department.
- Responsible for overseeing procedures of the departments and the review and implementation of change when required.
- Monitor and approve time off requests and timecards for the team.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD9
- CQI Audits for admissions departments.
- Monitor and audit admissions for both hospitals.
