Role Description
- Language on Demand (LOD) is seeking experienced language instructors and cultural experts to provide live online language instruction to military personnel through a secure virtual classroom environment. Instruction may be delivered one-on-one or in small-group settings and focuses on language proficiency, cultural understanding, and mission-relevant communication skills.
- This is a remote, instructor-based position supporting adult learners at varying proficiency levels.
- Conduct live online language classes in various languages as assigned
- Adapt provided curriculum materials tailored to different age groups and proficiency levels
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance interactive lessons and student engagement
- Provide personalized tutoring and support to help students achieve their language goals
- Manage virtual classroom environments effectively, ensuring a respectful and focused learning atmosphere
- Track student progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement
Requirements
- Native or near-native proficiency in the target language.
- Minimum of five (5) years of embedded experience within the target language culture, community, or region.
- Demonstrated experience teaching adults in classroom, online, or professional training environments.
- Ability to effectively teach and engage students in a virtual learning environment.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and access to a computer with webcam and headset.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while working with U.S. Government and military learners.
- Ability to support flexible scheduling across multiple time zones.
Instructors with any of the following are especially encouraged to respond:
- Experience teaching government personnel or adult professionals
- Particularly prefer candidates for Pashto, European Portuguese, Romanian, and Polish.
- Familiarity with ILR or ACTFL proficiency standards
- Familiarity with DLPT and/or OPI-oriented instruction
- Experience with online synchronous instruction
- Cross-cultural or regional expertise related to military, diplomatic, or international environments
- Reliable high-speed internet and a professional online teaching environment
