Pokémon TCG live selling on Whatnot
About the Role
1st Card Collectibles is hiring an energetic, knowledgeable Pokémon TCG Whatnot Live Streamer / Sales Host to join our in-person live-selling team in Birmingham. This role is for someone who knows Pokémon cards, can sell with confidence and excitement, and can maintain strong positive energy throughout a live show. You will begin with hands-on training and assisted streams, then progress toward independently leading Pokémon Whatnot shows.
What You’ll Do
- Host and eventually independently lead Pokémon TCG live-selling shows on Whatnot.
- Create excitement around every card by identifying genuine selling points such as artwork, rarity, characters, set significance, card type, and other relevant features.
- Maintain high, positive, family-friendly energy throughout the entire show. No cursing or inappropriate language.
- Prepare for shows by organizing inventory, stickering auction numbers, and gathering the supplies needed to run efficiently.
- Assist experienced streamers during training and help keep shows organized and energetic.
- Complete shipping responsibilities associated with the streams.
- Track what cards, products, price points, show formats, and selling approaches perform well.
- As you grow into the role, collaborate on show planning, inventory selection, and potential sourcing decisions based on actual sales results.
What We’re Looking For
- 18 years of age or older.
- Strong existing Pokémon TCG knowledge, including the ability to correctly pronounce Pokémon names.
- Ability to accurately identify card types and rarities and confidently describe the cards being sold.
- Strong sales instincts — you can quickly find compelling, accurate selling points and make inventory exciting without misrepresenting it.
- Extremely engaging, energetic, positive, and comfortable performing in a live-selling environment. Your face will not be shown on camera; your hands and the cards will be the primary focus.
- Comfortable working in a live-stream studio that is visible from our storefront.
- Excellent reliability and punctuality. You must arrive on time, prepared, well-rested, and ready to bring energy to the show.
- Consistent weekday availability. A rotating or frequently changing schedule may not be a fit for this role.
- Willingness to learn, take coaching, assist other streams, and complete the training process before leading shows independently.
Preferred Experience
- Previous Whatnot live-selling experience is strongly preferred and will receive priority consideration.
- Previous live-commerce, auction-hosting, or high-energy sales experience is a plus.
- Any additional TCG knowledge beyond Pokémon is a plus.
- Applicants with previous live-selling experience are encouraged to include their Whatnot username/profile and links to past streams, clips, or other examples.
Training & Growth
You will start by assisting experienced streams with auction preparation, card organization, show flow, energy, and shipping. From there, you will progress to leading auctions and shows with support before running shows independently. Strong performers may earn additional hours, hourly pay growth, and opportunities to contribute to show strategy, inventory planning, and sourcing. There is potential for the role to grow into a broader or full-time opportunity in the future, but this is not guaranteed.
Schedule
This is an in-person, part-time position in Birmingham, Alabama. The role is expected to begin at approximately 10–15 hours per week, with potential to grow to 20–30+ hours as the show schedule expands. Consistent weekday availability is required, with a current preference for Wednesday and/or Friday availability. Work/show schedules are generally provided approximately two weeks in advance.
Compensation
$15 per hour, with room for hourly pay growth based on performance, reliability, and expanded responsibility, plus 5% monthly profit commission bonuses.
Interview Process
Qualified candidates should expect an in-person Pokémon knowledge check and a short mock-auction audition. You may be given several cards without advance preparation and asked to simulate how you would sell them live. We will evaluate product knowledge, accuracy, energy, sales instincts, coachability, and overall fit for the role.
