Job Summary
Join our culinary team as a kitchen prep cook. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting with meal assembly / packaging, and ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly and efficiently. We package and deliver prepared meals once a week on Fridays and also do some weekend catering. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills while contributing to our positive team environment in a shared commercial kitchen space.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fresh ingredients by chopping, slicing, and portioning according to menu and recipe specifications
- Assist in assembling and packaging meals with precision and care, ensuring presentation standards are met
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including food storage areas
- Follow food safety protocols and proper handling procedures to ensure hygiene standards are upheld
- Support cooking and food preparation activities under the supervision of chefs or kitchen managers
- Help with inventory management by rotating stock and notifying supervisors of supply needs
- Contribute to catering events by preparing ingredients and assisting with meal assembly as needed
- Some delivery days may be available using our kitchen delivery van on Fridays
Skills
- Prior experience in kitchens in preferred.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of meal preparation, ability to multitask, and knowledge of food safety regulations
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in basic culinary techniques
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with food service operations, including catering and serving processes
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff
