Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated 2nd Shift CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate, set up, and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components. Your expertise will ensure that parts meet strict quality standards, tight tolerances and specifications, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various precision measuring instruments. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and set up CNC machinery such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily on the second shift schedule
- Program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment to minimize downtime
- Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions
- Read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure parts meet design requirements
- Utilize tooling, hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as needed for machine setup and part finishing
- Maintain a clean, organized work area adhering to safety standards and lean manufacturing principles
- Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize machining processes and improve efficiency
- Support quality control efforts through detailed inspection of machined parts
- Assist in training new operators on CNC programming and machine operation
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating CNC lathe and CNC milling machines with Fanuc controls or similar systems
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), SolidWorks, and CAM software
- Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations
- Experience working with plastics injection molding or other manufacturing processes is advantageous
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills
- Willingness to work the second shift hours consistently
