Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced
Electrical Engineer – Power Innovation for an onsite commissioning opportunity in Bowling Green, Ohio. This field-based role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient commissioning and startup of power generation and energy systems, providing electrical engineering expertise throughout pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and final system turnover.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Electrical Engineer will provide hands-on engineering support for electrical testing, verification, troubleshooting, energization, and system turnover. This position works directly with Project Management, Construction, Commissioning, Controls, Operations, and vendor teams to ensure electrical systems are properly tested, documented, integrated, and ready for operation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide electrical engineering support throughout commissioning, startup, and system turnover
- Lead and support testing, verification, and troubleshooting of switchgear, transformers, generators, protection relays, and control systems
- Validate short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash studies against as-built conditions before energization
- Execute and oversee insulation resistance, hi-pot, relay testing, and functional verification
- Support loop checks, calibration, and protection system verification during pre-commissioning
- Coordinate and participate in FAT, SAT, PSSR, and RFSU activities
- Provide direct field support for testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during commissioning and startup
- Support BESS and power generation system integration, testing, and performance validation
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and applicable safety requirements
- Develop and maintain ITRs, test records, redlines, and turnover packages
- Identify, track, and drive punch-list items through resolution before system handover
- Coordinate with equipment vendors during installation, testing, and commissioning
- Support continuous improvement and standardized commissioning processes
- Mentor and support junior engineers
SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- 12-Hour Day Shifts – 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
- Seven Days On / Seven Days Off
- Occasional Night and Holiday Shiftwork
- Fully Onsite in Bowling Green, Ohio
- Field-Based Construction, Commissioning & Startup Environment
- Work may include extreme temperatures, loud areas, confined spaces, and elevated work areas
