Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

About the Position
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. BHTs provide direct support to adults receiving services in our detoxification, residential substance use treatment, and mental health programs.

Key Responsibilities
Provide supervision, support, and guidance to clients while maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
Complete scheduled observations, safety checks, and rounds.
Build positive rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
Assist clients with activities of daily living and encourage healthy routines and independence.
Support clients experiencing mental health symptoms, substance use concerns, emotional distress, or behavioral challenges.
Utilize de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques as needed.
Assist with recovery-focused, psychoeducational, recreational, and daily living activities.
Observe and communicate changes in client behavior or presentation to the treatment team.
Complete accurate and timely documentation including safety checks, and incident reports.
Assist with admissions, discharges, and transitions between levels of care.
Collaborate with nursing, clinical, medical, and case management staff.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Participate in training, staff meetings, and professional development.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, substance use, detox, residential treatment, recovery, or human services preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn EHR systems.
CPR certification required.
CPI certification required; training may be provided upon hire.
Schedule
Programs operate 24/7/365, so schedules may include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
