Job Overview
Midwest Model Railroad is seeking a dependable, accurate, and hardworking Shipping and Warehouse Associate to join our team.
This is a full-time, long-term position that combines customer order fulfillment with warehouse stocking and inventory organization. The exact mix of work will vary from day to day based on order volume. During a typical week, the position will be approximately evenly divided between shipping/order fulfillment and warehouse work. During our busiest season, particularly December and January, more time will be spent fulfilling customer orders.
Our goal is to hire and train someone before peak season who can become a reliable long-term member of our warehouse team.
Accuracy is extremely important. Our customers expect to receive the correct products, properly packed and shipped on time. At the same time, employees are expected to work efficiently and maintain established daily productivity expectations.
Previous warehouse experience is not required. We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, careful, willing to learn, and capable of following established procedures consistently.

- Is comfortable being held accountable for their work and correcting mistakes when they occur
- Can follow written procedures and established processes
- Is able to work independently without constant supervision
- Can remain focused while performing repetitive tasks
- Is willing to learn our systems and procedures rather than assuming previous warehouse methods are the only way to do things
- Uses work time responsibly and stays engaged throughout the workday
- Works well as part of a team
- Has basic computer skills
- Is comfortable walking and standing for most of the workday
Physical Requirements
This position involves regular warehouse activity, including:

- Using step stools or ladders as needed to access inventory
- Regularly lifting and handling packages and merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs.
Experience
Previous experience in shipping, e-commerce fulfillment, order picking, stocking, or warehouse operations is helpful, but not required.
We are willing to train the right person. Reliability, attention to detail, good judgment, and a willingness to learn are more important to us than previous warehouse experience.
No knowledge of model railroading is required.
Attendance & Scheduling
This is a permanent, full-time position and is not seasonal employment.
Because Mondays are typically one of our highest-volume shipping days, Monday availability is required. Employees also participate in a rotating Saturday schedule. We are closed Sundays.
Consistent attendance is particularly important during our busy season. Employees are expected to arrive on time, return from breaks promptly, and be ready to work for their scheduled shift.
