Founding Setting Team Lead — W&H Software
Take a swing on a phenomenal product, build the team that fills our calendar, and share in the upside as we grow.
About W&H
We build custom operations software for local service businesses — movers, roofers, HVAC, dumpster rental, and the trades running their whole company on a mess of subscriptions, spreadsheets, and sticky notes. Instead of renting off‑the‑shelf tools forever, our clients get one system built for how they actually work — and they own it outright, usually for less than they're paying now. Our first build (InaZip, a moving‑company CRM) is live and running a real business today.
This Isn't a Corporate Job — Read This First
W&H is a fresh company. That means this is a real risk — and a real shot at something huge. We are not offering a safe corporate seat with a fixed salary, a title track, and a comfortable ceiling. If a guaranteed number every two weeks is what you need, this isn't the role, and that's okay — keep looking with no hard feelings.
We're looking for the opposite kind of person: someone who sees a phenomenal product and a wide‑open market and wants to bet on it. Someone willing to trade the security of a steady paycheck for uncapped upside and real ownership in what they build. You'd be getting in at the ground floor — not applying for a rung on someone else's ladder — and if we grow the way we intend to (insanely), the person who built our setting engine from scratch wins big.
If you want to build something, take the swing, and share in the outcome — read on.
The Role
You own the top of the funnel. You'll set appointments yourself from day one, then recruit, train, and lead a team of setters as we scale — keeping our designers' calendars full of qualified discovery calls. You don't close — our founder and designers run the discovery call and close the deal. Your job is to build and run the engine that books them.
What You'll Do
- Set. Work the phones and email yourself — book qualified discovery calls from our researched leads. Lead by example.
- Hire. Recruit and interview setters as we grow the team.
- Train. Onboard new setters, coach them on the scripts, run call reviews, and get them productive fast.
- Manage. Hold the team to daily activity (dials, conversations, emails) and outcomes (appointments booked, show rate). Run the pipeline in our rep portal.
- Improve. Sharpen the setting scripts and process with the founder as you learn what actually books calls.
What You'll Inherit (why this bet is winnable)
- A working lead‑research + outreach machine — a rep portal, per‑lead research dossiers, and tested call/email scripts. Your setters are handed real leads and proven talk tracks, not a blank page.
- A founder and designers who run the discovery calls and close — you feed a funnel that actually converts.
- A proven, shippable product and a live case study.
- An uncapped, ownership‑heavy comp structure — you build it, you share in it.
Who You Are
- You've led or built an appointment‑setting / SDR / BDR team — or you've been a top setter ready to run the team.
- You're excellent on the phone yourself and can teach it.
- You can recruit, interview, and train — you spot talent and make people better.
- Metrics‑driven: you live in activity and conversion numbers.
- You want the risk. Early‑stage energy excites you; a fixed corporate ladder bores you.
- Organized, self‑driven, and good at holding people accountable without being a jerk about it.
- Bonus: you've set appointments into local service businesses or the trades.
Compensation
This is a bet, not a salary — modest floor, uncapped ceiling, and you're paid when deals close, not on activity:
- A recoverable draw while you ramp — an advance against your future commissions, not a salary.
- Commission on every deal that closes from an appointment you set.
- An override on every deal that closes from your team's appointments — you earn on the whole engine you build.
- Equity / revenue‑share that vests as you grow the team.
- Everything pays as cash is collected (our deals finance over 24 months) — steady, compounding income as your book grows.
Exact numbers are set with the founder based on your experience.
