SALES ENGINEER
Position Summary:
A leading steel materials manufacturing company with multiple divisions and more than $2 billion in annual sales is seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Sales Engineer to support and expand its metal processing business. This role serves as the critical link between engineering and sales, partnering closely with customers to understand technical requirements, develop tailored solutions, and ensure successful project execution from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, supporting the sales team in quoting and closing new business
- Analyze customer drawings, specifications, and requirements to determine feasibility and manufacturability
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop solutions and cost-effective designs
- Prepare detailed quotes, including material selection, tooling considerations, and production processes
- Provide technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers
- Assist customers with design optimization to improve manufacturability and reduce costs
- Support new product launches, including tooling development and first article approvals
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and identify opportunities for upselling or new business
- Track sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts using CRM tools
- Stay informed on industry trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in tube and sheet fabrication, stamping presses, kitting, and complex assembly in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal design, tolerances, and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience in doing cost benefit analysis in evaluating different design solutions

- Experience with ERP/CRM systems is a plus
- Experience in manufacturing steel processing setting
