Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Navigate routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely and accurate deliveries across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes.
- Load and unload freight, including hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods, adhering strictly to hazardous materials regulations.
- Handle logistics cargo with precision, ensuring proper securing, manual handling, and compliance with safety protocols during loading and unloading processes.
- Transport automobile parts or vehicles via specialized equipment for automobile transportation services.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery schedules, and any issues encountered on the road.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving with a focus on freight transportation.
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with endorsements relevant to the type of cargo transported (e.g., hazmat, tanker).
- Extensive knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, manual transmission operation, and truck loading equipment.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient OTR routes.
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely in accordance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, and safety standards for commercial trucking operations.
- Experience operating tractor-trailers such as flatbed trucks or refrigerated trailers preferred but not required.
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe driving habits over time.
