Role Description
The Freight Broker is responsible for sourcing and securing freight from shippers, negotiating rates, and matching loads with carriers to ensure on-time, cost-effective transportation. This role manages load tenders, dispatches drivers, tracks shipments, resolves in-transit issues, and maintains accurate documentation. The Freight Broker will build and maintain strong relationships with customers and carriers while collaborating with internal teams to optimize lane coverage, improve margins, and support operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers in the logistics industry.
- Maintain current client accounts, generate leads, attract new prospects, and build a strong sales pipeline.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through effective sales techniques.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Coordinate and manage transportation services, including scheduling, tracking, and issue resolution.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) to optimize freight movement and improve efficiency.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving customer concerns.
- Accurately enter shipment information and maintain required documentation.
Requirements:
- Need Active Book of Business
- Proven experience in freight brokerage, logistics sales, or a related field.
- Strong sales and business development skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles and transportation operations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with transportation planning, routing, and TMS platforms is preferred.
