The DeKalb County School District is seeking an experienced and professional Director, Facilities & Maintenance .
Salary Grade/Schedule: Unified 132
Title: Director, Facilities & Maintenance
Plans, develops, and directs the operations of the Facilities Maintenance Department, ensuring strategic integration of capital construction and facility planning with maintenance services, including work order maintenance and facility repair. Provides strategic input on the organization's long and short-term plans, translating plans into objectives for the assigned function and aligning assigned teams towards common goals.
Essential Functions:
Inspects school buildings, grounds, and installations regularly to maintain high standards of workmanship,
cleanliness, safety, and security.
- Collaborates with the appropriate divisional and cross-divisional staff to develop a comprehensive master
plan.
- Develops, schedules, and implements maintenance and repair requirements for the division, including
service vehicles and motorized equipment.
- Collaborates on capital projects.
- Develops and manages an annual budget, along with a strategic 3 – 5-year plan for facilities maintenance
and repairs while monitoring personnel and non-personnel accounts.
- Manages staffing requirements to ensure efficient operation of facility services.
- Drives cost-reduction initiatives by considering the full life cycle of assets and major maintenance projects.
- Provides regular status reports on ongoing maintenance issues to stakeholders.
- Responds promptly to school administrators, staff, or external stakeholders' concerns regarding facility
problems for timely correction or repair.
- Makes strategic decisions that have medium to long-term impact on operations, ensuring safe and
functional facilities are maintained consistently.
- Analyzes data to inform decisions and improve practices.
- Supports the professional growth of staff by providing direction, support, and constructive feedback.
- Provides input into overall financial plans, maintaining fiscal accountability.
- Provides guidance to the teams, including through times of risk and uncertainty, aligning teams towards
common goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's degree in a closely related field is required with a focus on fostering continuous development and
progression in workflow and operational efficiency and 9+ years of experience.
- Candidate must obtain the GAPSC Support Personnel License within three (3) months of hire.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE), Facilities Management Professional
(FMP), or Certificate of Facilities Management (CFM) by the International Facility Management Association, or
equivalent from BOMA/I preferred.
