A one-on-one aide provides assistance to an assigned student on a daily basis. There is extensive interaction with students. A one-on-one aide is an integral part of a student’s treatment plan. One on one aides work with classroom teachers to provide academic and behavior support to assigned student. One on one aides are role models. It is a very rewarding position. The schedule for this position is 8AM to 2:30PM and will work 32.5 hours per week.
Kiefer School serves students struggling in their home district due to severe emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges. Our staff at Kiefer use a trauma-informed approach to understanding the cause of a child’s behavior in the classroom. Our Behavior Management Specialists conduct an analysis on each student to learn what serves as a trigger and provides support and resources to deescalate situations.
AFA serves students ages 5 – 22 who have received an educational or medical diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Qualifications:

Paraprofessional Certificate is required. Ability to obtain within 3 years of employment.

If no paraprofessional certificate at the time of application, candidate must create an ELIS account through ISBE, apply for short-term approval, pay the application fee, and submit a copy of diploma to ISBE before the start of employment. First-time staff will be reimbursed for this fee.

Classroom experience strongly preferred.
